ELMIRA HEIGHTS – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats girls basketball team traveled to Elmira to face Thomas A. Edison for the first round of sectionals. The Bobcats fell 62-43 to end their 2022-2023 season. B-G finished third in the MAC Division II league, behind Greene and Oxford, with an overall record of 12-9.

B-G played consistently with the Spartans throughout the first half, being down 28-22 at the half. First half efforts were led by Celeste Baldwin and Jordyn Parsons, who both had six points each.

The Bobcats could not make adjustments against a strong Thomas Edison team to begin the second half as they were held to eight points. The Spartans found their rhythm with 22 points in those eight minutes to achieve the overall victory and advance to the next round. They were also consistent at the free-throw line, making 10-of-16 foul shots.

Johnna Henderson led B-G with 13 points while Jayslin Henderson had 10. Tori Suda had room to strive in the second half and finished behind Baldwin and Parsons with five points in the loss.
