OXFORD – The Oxford Lady Blackhawks took on Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Thursday in the first round of sectionals. Oxford, who comes in as a second-seed in Class D, defeated the Lady Raiders in a big 77-22 win. Everyone on the Oxford roster found their way into the game for a total of eight minutes or more and scored at least two points.

Oxford ran away with a large lead from the beginning to end, scoring a high of 26 points in the first quarter alone. They also held GMU, who was led by senior Hannah Bonczkowski, to five points at halftime. Bonczkowski had 16 of the team’s total 22 points on the night.

Oxford settled in with their big lead in the second half, allowing the starters to sit and the subs to have their moment to shine. In the all-around team effort, Madalyn Barrows posted her 11th double-double on the season with 15 points and 11 of the team’s 50 total rebounds. Taegan Manwarren finished behind her with 12 points while Ella Kelsey had 10 points in the win.

Oxford hosts the next round as the higher seed against 7-seed South Kortright on Saturday at 6 p.m. South Kortright finished the regular season with a 17-4 record and won the Delaware League Championship. Admission will be charged through GOFan Digital Ticketing.
