COOPERSTOWN – After impressing their home crowd in the first round of sectionals, the Sherburne-Earlville Lady Marauders felt confident, taking on Cooperstown. Cooperstown, who had defeated S-E twice in the regular season, had the upper-hand as they came away with the 57-47 victory in overtime. S-E ended the challenging 2022-2023 season with a 10-12 record.

S-E did give the Hawkeyes a battle throughout the contest as they rallied from a small deficit to tie the game to send it into overtime at 42 a piece. Unfortunately, they could not stop the will power of Cooperstown’s Dani Seamon, who crushed competition with 32 points, including 13 in overtime.

S-E was proud of several ladies who stepped up to help them get to overtime. Hannah Todd-Rogers led the Marauders with 13 points and her one-of-two free throws helped tie the game with 17 seconds in regulation. She also had 13 rebounds in the contest. Trinity Thornton finished her final game with a double-double as well with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Chesnee Miller had nine points and six assists while Alex Grzymkowski had 11 points and four steals in the loss.

Good luck to seniors Trinity Thornton and Kayleigh Rood.
