NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm basketball teams co-hosted this year’s MAC championship games. The boys game featured the Delhi Bulldogs against the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats while the girls had defending champions Unatego taking on a tough Greene Lady Trojans team. Throughout the night, UV also accepted donations on behalf of the McEwan-Lomnicki family as Sidney’s student-athlete Anielle was struck by a drunk driver coming home from school last week. As a community, a total of $1,371 was raised.

The night started off with the Boys MAC Championship game as B-G faced Delhi.

After losing to Delhi twice in the regular season, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats hoped the third time would be the charm. Delhi was strong all season leading up to this game. The Bulldogs took a demanding 51-38 victory, capping a 19-1 season before sectionals start.

B-G started hot with a 6-0 run early in the first quarter, led by Ilias Wilson and James Hogroian, but Delhi erased the run by putting up 11 unanswered points. They took ultimate control throughout the rest of the contest as well, holding the Bobcats to single-digit points in the second and third quarters to expand their lead.

B-G tried to step up in the final eight minutes of play from the help of David Emerson and Hogroian, but could not stop Delhi’s Luke Schnabel from doing what he does best offensively. Schnabel ended the night with 27 points as he continues to lead the Bulldogs this season.
