GIRLS BASKETBALL: S-E Makes Stellar Comeback, Defeats Clinton

CLINTON – The Sherburne-Earlville Lady Marauders faced Clinton in the final game of the 2022-2023 regular season on Tuesday evening. S-E pushed through in the second half of play to make a miraculous comeback to win 39-38 in the final minute of play.

The Marauders were down 25-15 at the half before building up momentum to start the final 16 minutes. S-E increased intensity on defense, which allowed them to run the ball offensively. They posted 10 points in the third quarter and held Clinton to two points to be down by two.

With the game on the line, S-E’s Trinity Thornton helped give S-E the lead with under four minutes to play. Teammate Alex Grzymkowski hit a big three and made free-throws in the final minute to secure the victory.

Hannah Todd-Rogers led S-E with 12 points and 12 rebounds as Thornton also picked up a double-double with 10 points and a whopping 15 rebounds on the night. Grzymkowski had 10 points with five steals.

S-E finishes the regular season 9-11 and will host the first round of sectionals on this Thursday against Beaver River at 7 p.m.
