NORWICH — The Chenango SPCA annual Fur Ball fundraiser made its return at the Canasawacta Country Club on Saturday, with over 100 Chenango County residents attending to support the shelter and the animals they care for.

"It’s been a while since we’ve been able to have this event so we’re really happy to have everyone back here," said Chenango SPCA Board of Directors Vice President Brianna Curley. "A lot of you have contributed to the SPCA in multiple ways over the years. I’m not exaggerating when I say we wouldn’t be able to operate without you, so when I say we appreciate your support, I truly and emphatically mean that."

The evening featured music by local performer Grady Thompson as well as local band Crushing Midnight, signature cocktails, passed appetizers provided by the Canasawacta Country Club, and a silent auction with several gift baskets donated by local businesses and organizations.

The fundraiser was also the inaugural event for the Chenango SPCA's new executive director Patrick McLaughlin, who began in his new role on Monday, February 6.

"Thanks again to the board of directors, the fundraising committee that put this together, Grady for the fantastic music. It’s been a pleasure so far," said McLaughlin. "As the new executive director I’m thrilled to have so many willing and enthusiastic donors here."
