GIRLS BASKETBALL: Norwich Drops To Vestal

VESTAL – The Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team fell to Vestal in a non-league matchup 59-46 on Monday night. This was the final regular season game for Norwich and they finished their last six games at an even 3-3 record. They sit at 7-12 on the season and await any potential playoff games coming up in the next week.

Norwich was limited in the first half against the Golden Bears in the first half of play. Norwich was held to 11 points in a 26-11 deficit at halftime. Knowing this win would be helpful, Norwich came out strong to start the third quarter, but Vestal matched intensity to hold the lead.

Josey Ryan and Emma Urgo were big contributors in the final eight minutes. They posted the team’s 14 points with Ryan scoring 11 and Urgo with three. Ryan finished with 14 points in the contest while Urgo had 12. Olivia Schiraldi knocked down two three’s with 10 points in the loss.
