NY State Police Respond To Fatal Collision In The Town Of Oxford

OXFORD — On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at approximately 4:29 p.m., New York State Police at Norwich responded to a one-vehicle rollover collision in the area of 1100 Hoben Road in the Town of Oxford.

Investigation revealed that a 1991 Chevrolet single-cab pickup truck, being operated by Ayden N. Strong, age 18, of Norwich, New York, failed to negotiate a sharp corner on Hoben Road and overturned.

As a result of the collision, Taylor M. Demuth, age 18, of Norwich, New York, was partially ejected and pronounced deceased on scene.

Two other occupants of the vehicle received minor, non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. It was further determined that the vehicle was uninsured, unregistered, and the driver was not licensed.

Troopers were assisted by State Police Investigators, the Troop C Collision Reconstruction Unit, and members of Chenango County EMS, Greene EMS, Oxford Fire Department and Emergency Squad, and Chenango County Fire Coordinators.

The investigation is continuing.
