OTSELIC – After defeating Oxford last Friday, the Otselic Valley Vikings boys basketball team returned home to face league opponent Brookfield. The Vikings came away with a 61-51 victory on Tuesday evening. This was their second win against the Beavers this season after a 65-47 win on December 19.

OV led 26-17 at halftime in what appeared to be a slow offensive first half for both teams. The Vikings surely stepped it up in the third quarter outscoring their opponent 25-17, due to some fast break opportunities. That momentum, as well as achieving their highest rebounding total of 38 on the year, helped them secure the victory, even with Brookfield catching up near the end of the fourth quarter.

OV’s Braeden Davis paved the way with 28 points and tied teammate Jacob Bunting with seven rebounds each. Davis also made five-of-eight three’s attempted. Owen Davis laid down two three’s in his 13 points and tied Lukas Schieferstein and Cole Warren with six rebounds a piece. Schiferestein also picked up four steals in the victory.

With this win, the Vikings improve to 6-10 on the season and will host their remaining four regular season games, including a make-up game against Unadilla Valley on February 9. Their next game will be this Friday against Madison at 7 p.m.
