GIRLS BASKETBALL: Norwich Defeats Windsor

WINDSOR – The Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team snapped a three-game skid with another win over Windsor 42-33 on Thursday evening. This comes two weeks after the exciting 41-37 overtime win on January 11.

Norwich and Windsor went neck and neck in the first quarter, notched at 11 a piece. Norwich excelled in the second quarter and took a 23-20 lead at halftime. They were not done as the third quarter was the best with 16 points scored behind a hot handed Josey Ryan and Olivia Schiraldi who both posted double-digit scoring. Ryan drilled five three-pointers to finish with 19 points as Schiraldi knocked in three with 18 points.

The Purple Tornado defense also held Windsor to 13 points in the second half and survived on the third quarter intensity while the offense was held to three points in the final eight minutes.

Norwich (5-10) will host Cherry Valley-Springfield on Tuesday for Senior Night. The game is expected to begin at 7:15 p.m. with festivities following the JV game.
