GREENE - After several games where they’ve had to make second half comebacks, the Greene Lady Trojans stood tall in the challenge brought to them by Sidney. The Trojans took down the fierce Warriors 52-42 to remain perfect on the season.

Greene came out strong offensively throughout all four quarters and didn’t skip a beat when Sidney slowly followed along. Greene was able to hold the Warriors to only three points in the second quarter to help build momentum into the second half. They finished strong, outscoring them 29-24 in the final 16 minutes to cap off a great offensive night.

Sidney’s big two starters, Ava Cirgliano and Emma Simmons did have great games with Simmons leading the Warriors with 18 points and Cirigliano with 11. But, it was Greene’s Payton Yahner that led all scorers with 23, including three three-point shots. Abby Yahner finished behind her with 12 points in the win.

Greene hosts Unadilla Valley on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Trojans defeated UV 52-32 in the previous matchup.
