NORWICH – The Norwich YMCA Bolts Track Club is back for its 2023 season. The Bolts team is ran by YMCA fitness director, Shannon Gawronski, said she’s proud the team is the area’s only premier youth club. The Bolts features youth anywhere from 5 to 18 years old and accepts all levels and abilities from beginner to experienced.

The indoor track session began on Sunday, January 15 and will run until March 12 before returning for a summer session. Athletes will work on all the fundamentals needed to succeed in the beloved sport of Track and Field. These fundamentals include working on conditioning drills, efficient running and speed, hurdles, relay exchanges, and even jumps and weight throws.

Gawronski also anticipates opportunities where her club will get to compete against other clubs. She also hopes to find more local athletes who will grow to love the sport by participating in the Bolts program.

Practices run every Sunday night from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Norwich YMCA. Registration is still on-going where the cost is $60 for members and $100 for non-members. Scholarships are available to help with any costs. Forms can be picked up and submitted at the YMCA’s front desk.

For more information, please contact Shannon Gawronski at 607-336-9622 with an extension of 1024 or by email at sgawronski@norwichymca.org.
