CHENANGO VALLEY - On Saturday, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a close 60-51 victory over Chenango Valley. Norwich split the series with the Warriors as Chenango Valley won the previous matchup 61-47.

Norwich’s Steven Dowdall knew his team needed to get back into the win column as he made his return from a brief injury. Dowdall excelled with 25 points with scoring 13 out of Norwich’s 17 points in the first quarter before helping out in the fourth quarter when Norwich needed it most. He also knocked down three three-point shots.

Jerell Stokes finished with 16 points as Mitchell Collins had 12 in the victory.

While holding on to a second place position in the STAC East standings at 4-9, Norwich desperately needs at least four more wins to make it to the playoffs. Norwich hopes another win will come on Friday at home vs Owego at 7:15 p.m. where they need another big game from everyone.
