BOYS SWIMMING: Greene Wins Second Meet Of Season Vs Sus Valley

CONKLIN – After dropping their last three matches, the Greene Trojans boys swim team struck luck with a 63-50 win over Susquehanna Valley. Coach Jamie Milk and the Trojans are 2-3 on the season with more matches to follow.

Greene fell second in all relay races on the night before picking things up in the individual events where they captured first place victories. Sus Valley did keep things close for a while as they picked up points in remaining positions.

Freshmen swimmers Jaxson Calice and Drake Malmquist, along with junior Austin deHaan earned two first place finishes. Calice swam a best of 24.73 seconds in the 50 yard freestyle event while Sherman Ludolph came in fourth (35.83). Calice also achieved a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.28.

Malmquist picked up 12 points on the night with top finishes in the 100 yard freestyle and in the 200 yard freestyle. He swam a best of 1:03.11 in the 100 yard freestyle with teammate Sherman Ludolph in third place (1:20.63).

Dehaan was the lone swimmer for the 500 yard freestyle while he and Maeric Barrows took both slots in the 100 yard breaststroke. Jonathan Westcott was also the lone swimmer in the 200 yard individual medley where he finished with a time of 3:03.97.

Greene will return home to face Oneonta on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
