NORWICH – Continuing their homestand, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team hosted Chenango Forks, where they suffered a 70-45 loss. The Blue Devils swept the overall series this season after a previous 64-42 win on December 13.

Norwich and Chenango Forks both came out hot and heavy to start the first quarter. For Norwich, it took some time to get things going on offense as the Blue Devils took an early 8-0 run. But, they had slow down late in the quarter, where Norwich tied it at 12.

Chenango Forks continued to take advantage offensively, even with Norwich putting up defensive stops, to take a nine-point lead at halftime off hot shooting from Helena Willis. Norwich’s Olivia Schiraldi had nine points in the first half and finished with a team-high of 13 points on the night.

Chenango Forks finished strong in the final fourth quarter with collecting offensive rebounds and forcing turnovers to achieve the victory.

Norwich (3-7) will be right back on the court tonight in a rescheduled game against Windsor, starting at 7:15 p.m.
