OXFORD – Coming off participating in the Windsor Christmas Tournament, the Oxford-Greene wrestling team hosted Walton-Delhi on Tuesday evening. Oxford-Greene picked up two wins in the hard 66-12 deficit.

With both teams stacked with wrestlers, forfeits weren’t deciding this match. But, each team earned one forfeit a piece before action began. Hunter Page (OX-GR 189) and Peyton Tweedie (W-DA 152) picked up forfeit wins in their respective weight classes.

Most of Oxford-Greene’s wrestlers started their matches off strong before being pinned down late.

Aside from Hunter Page, the second leading wrestler on the team was Kade Mustin, who had a 10-4 record prior to the match.

At 102, Mustin put up a good fight with Walton-Delhi’s Hayden Robinson. However, Robinson led 8-5 at the end of the second period and won on a pin at 1:05 left in the final round. Mustin is now 10-5 on the season with more matches ahead. Hunter Page leads overall with a 15-2 record.

Teammate Isaiah Sexton in the 172 weight class struck a good match as well, but this time came out with a victory. Sexton pinned Walton-Delhi’s with a 1:23 left in the second period to give Oxford-Greene a win on a match.

Oxford-Greene looks to bounce back against Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville at Harpursville on Wednesday, January 11 at 6 p.m.
