NORWICH — Thank you Assemblyman Joe Angelino for recognizing the hard work of many. Job well done by our local forefathers who in November 1862 had the vision and fortitude to establish a YMCA in the City of Norwich, New York.

It was our honor to receive this New York State Assembly Citation for 160 years of service and commitment while standing in front of our Military Honor Tree. The symbolism of standing in front of our Military Honor Tree, and knowing the direct impact that hundreds of Norwich Y volunteers lent to the local military work for our local soldiers during World War I and II is special.

On behalf of our 100 employees, our 2600-plus members, our Norwich community, and the thousands of members, employees, and volunteers who have supported the Norwich YMCA during the last 160 years, we thank you for this honor.
