New York Police, Troop C Reports: Troopers Respond To Numerous Weather Related Crashes

CHENANGO COUNTY – As of Dec. 16, New York State Police at Troop C responded to 172 weather related incidents since the recent winter snow storm.

Troop “C” encompasses seven counties: Broome, Cortland, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Tioga and Tompkins Counties. 

Of those 172 weather related incidents:

81 were for assisting a motorist or a disabled vehicle (which also includes vehicles going off the road that did not get damaged).

88 crashes with no injury and only damage to property

3 crashes with an injury that is non-life-threatening

Zone 1 (Chenango, Delaware and Otsego Counties):

19 assist motorist or disabled vehicle

39 crashes involving damage to property

1 crash with non-life-threatening injuries

Zone 2 (Broome County):

38 assist motorist or disabled vehicle

31 crashes involving damage to property

2 crashes with non-life-threatening injuries

Zone 3 (Cortland, Tioga and Tompkins Counties):

28 assist motorist or disabled vehicle

21 crashes involving damage to property

0 crashes with non-life-threatening injuries

Unadilla man arrested after physical altercation at local business

UNADILLA – On December 14, 2022, New York State Police at Sidney arrested Jeffrey M. Bullis, age 19 of Unadilla, NY for the misdemeanors of Criminal Contempt in the second degree, Stalking in the fourth degree and Criminal Trespass in the third degree. 

Troopers were dispatched by Otsego County 911 to a report of a physical altercation at the House of Consignment on Main Street in the village of Unadilla.  An investigation revealed that Bullis violated an existing order of protection by entering the business.  Bullis grabbed and shoved a victim, causing the victim to strike a window and door frame.  A third person intervened, attempted to separate Bullis from the victim and held down Bullis until troopers arrived. 

The victim went to Tri-Town Hospital for an evaluation of injuries that were sustained during the incident.  Bullis was also evaluated at Tri-Town Hospital for a complaint of pain but was released and processed at SP Sidney.    He was issued appearance tickets to the Unadilla Town Court on January 23, 2023.     

The investigation is on-going, more charges are possible.

Tompkins County man arrested after pointing crossbow at another person

TOMPKINS COUNTY – On December 9, 2022, New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Berne H. Hall, age 58, of Ithaca, NY for the misdemeanors of Menacing in the second degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree. 

An investigation revealed that Hall was involved in a dispute that day and later pointed a crossbow at a victim while at the Hanshaw Village Trailer Park.  Hall was arrested and transported to SP Ithaca where he was processed.  He was then transported to the Tompkins County Jail for Centralized Arraignment and Processing.

Sidney man charged with assault

SIDNEY – On December 12, 2022, New York State Police arrested Peter T. Tarallo, age 26, of Sidney, NY for the class “D” felony of Assault in the second degree.  

At approximately 1:56 a.m., Troopers were dispatched by Otsego County 911 to a report of an assault at an apartment on State Highway 8 in the town of Unadilla.  The troopers discovered that a victim was struck with a sauce pan over the head several times, leading to an injury.  The victim was checked out by Guilford EMS and ultimately transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital for further evaluation. 

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., Tarallo was located with the assistance of village of Sidney Police.  He was transported to SP Sidney and processed.  Tarallo was then transported to the Otsego County Jail for Centralized Arraignment and Processing.
