NORWICH — Despite the impending snowstorm heading toward the city, Helping Hands, a local group dedicated to supporting the community, will be holding their December giveaway tonight at 6 p.m. at the Norwich Family YMCA, located at 68-70 North Broad Street in Norwich.

Visitors can stop by for free food, Chobani yogurt, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, and pet food, no questions asked. With the holiday season in full swing, attendees can also expect Christmas caroling with Chobani's Don Brown.

The giveaways occur on the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Norwich Family YMCA, rain, shine, or snow.

Those wishing to support Helping Hands through donations of nonperishable food, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, and pet food can now drop off donations before the monthly giveaways from 4:30 to 5 p.m. at the Norwich Family YMCA, at the back entrance.

Donations can also be left at the YMCA front desk during their hours of operation.
