Vehicular Manslaughter And DWI Charges Sought After Passenger Killed In Pittsfield Crash

PITTSFIELD – On December 9, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Oneonta arrested Brian T. Christman, age 22, of Fort Plain, NY for the class “D” felony of Vehicular Manslaughter in the second degree and the misdemeanor of Driving While Intoxicated.

The charges are over a summer incident that occured several month earlier.

On July 23, 2022, at approximately 2:06 a.m., New York State Police responded to a fatal one-vehicle crash on Shacktown Mountain Road in the town of Pittsfield.

The passenger of the vehicle, Payton Stirone, age 22, of Mount Vision, NY was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Christman, who was driving at the time of the crash was transported to Basset Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Christman was processed by the state police at Oneonta, arraigned before a judge, and released without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
