NORWICH – Over the weekend, the Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling team hosted the Coach K Duals, where they went 4-0 with wins against Dryden, Oxford-Greene, Sidney, and Canasota.

Norwich also had five wrestlers go undefeated; Maverick Beckwith, Regan Roach, Nate Murphy, Yanni Drapanotis, and Mason Edwards.

Coach Bob Hagenbuch applauded his team and quoted this meet as a great bounce back performance after the Tornado lost 48-21 vs Windsor last Thursday.

Maverick Beckwith at the 102 weight class won three out of four matches to forfeits while defeating Sidney’s Caden Higley in a reversal at 2:15 of the second period.

Regan Roach had an impressive day for the 132 weight class. He won his first match on a reversal before picking up a forfeit and a win on a choice at 2:50 in the second period.

Nate Murphy finished the day undefeated in the 145 weight class. His first match was a victory in a fall at 3:05 before winning on a takedown against Oxford-Greene’s Corey Swift in 1:45 in the first period. Against Canastota, Murphy won in a close 5-3 decision.
