NEW BERLIN – On Monday evening, the Unadilla Valley Storm girls basketball team hosted Oxford for their first league matchup of the 2022 season. Oxford led 31-16 at halftime and never looked back as they earned the overall 55-40 victory.

The Blackhawks were led by Ella Kelsey who scored a team-high of 20 points and knocked down two three’s on the night. She had nine points alone in the first quarter, but was held scoreless in the fourth. Behind her was Madalyn Barrows who had 17 points. The whole Oxford lineup scored at least one point in the contest, leading to a team effort.

For the Storm, Jaiden Schrag and Kadence York tied with 13 points each while Maddie Sayles and Bella Jones both had six points. UV tried to make a late fourth quarter comeback as Schrag and York got hot with a combined 15 points, but could not get help from other teammates or hold Oxford on defense.
