OXFORD - The 59th annual Clyde Cole Tournament kicked off over the weekend with Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville, host Oxford-Greene, Sherburne-Earlville, and Norwich participating in the event.

While these Chenango County teams did well, it was Shenendehowa taking the overall victory. BGAH took ninth place while Oxford-Greene finished 10th. S-E came in 14th place with Norwich behind them in 15th.

At least one wrestler represented Chenango County in the championship round.

Norwich’s Maverick Beckwith and Yanni Drapaniotis made the championship round where both lost but put up a tough fight. Beckwith lost his match in a 5-0 decision while Drapaniotis lost in a fall at 3:38. Both received second place in their respective weight class.

Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville had two wrestlers become champions as Darren Florance (4-2) and Joey Florance (6-4) won their matches by close decisions.

For the home team, Hunter Page represented Oxford-Greene in the finals for the 189 weight class where he defeated Shenendehowa’s Arman Hashimee in a 5-4 decision.

In the 275 weight class finals, Sherburne-Earlville’s Landon Andrade walked away with victory in a fall at 3:34.

In the consolation round, Aiden Marcin (Oxford-Greene) lost his match in a 5-1 decision.

For all-finals, S-E’s Cody Clarkson defeated Vestal’s Donovan Donlin with a fall at 4:11 while teammate Brier Cox lost in a 4-0 decision. Troy Braman from Oxford-Greene lost in a quick fall to Queensbury’s Noah Smith in a 1:40. BGAH’s Jose Bivar lost in a 7-2 decision.
