NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley girls basketball team hosted Charlotte Valley to start the 2022 season. UV’s strong second half of play sealed the 48-37 victory over the Wildcats.

After some early struggles, UV picked up momentum as Jaiden Schrag lit up with 12 points, including back-to-back defensive steals to start the second quarter. She finished the game with 20 points and had the team’s lone three-point shot. Kadence York finished behind her with 10 points.

UV couldn’t stop CV’s Jessica Zuill from knocking down three’s, but held the Wildcats to 12 points in the second half. The Storm’s fierce defense did not allow CV to score a basket until 1:45 left in the third quarter, leading their offense to pick up a comfortable 10-point lead, which was enough to win it.

UV (1-0) will stay home to face league opponent Oxford on Monday, December 5 at 7 p.m.
