OXFORD – The Oxford Blackhawks and the Unadilla Valley Storm battled it out on Monday afternoon, where Oxford came out with the 1-0 win.

After not getting it done on the corner kick, Oxford’s Jayne Fleury stole the ball on defense, where she got room to move and made her way to the goal to score against a tough Kalie Naughton.

Both teams were held scoreless up until Fleury scored with around eight minutes remaining in regulation.

UV did have chances as their own goalie Naughton earned a penalty shot, but her shot was touched by Madison Long and deflected high. The Storm also had 13 shots on goal compared to Oxford’s 10.

Coming off the win, Oxford will be at Unatego this afternoon while UV hosts Bainbridge-Guilford. Both games are scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
