SHERBURNE-EARLVILLE – After coming up short against Sandy Creek last week, the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders saw major improvement, picking up their first win of the season, 28-7 over Waterville.

S-E scored three rushing touchdowns from Ethan Shaw, Nick Hull, and Darren Miles. Miles also had one passing touchdown in the win.

Shaw received the ball 16 times for 124 yards while Hull saw eight carries for 106 yards to help put up 278 rushing yards out of 344 yards of total offense.

The S-E defense recovered three interceptions and two fumbles. Landon Andrade and Aaron Key Jr. led the defense with eight tackles while Shaw had six.

“Extremely proud of the way our kids have responded. They continue to grow each week,” Steve Franklin, S-E’s head coach said. “We have a young starting lineup (six sophomores, a freshman, and one senior on defense) so they are starting to figure out the speed and intensity it takes to play solid football at this level.”

Franklin added, “I like the direction we are headed, these guys worked extremely hard in the offseason so it was great to see that work pay off.”
