NORWICH – On Tuesday, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls swim team suffered a 97-59 loss to Chenango Valley.

Despite the loss, Norwich saw strong finishes from Nina Kman in the 50 yard freestyle and in the 500 yard freestyle. Coach Saundra Gantt was impressed with Kman’s performance.

“Nina had a great meet,” She said. “ She took three seconds off her sectional 500 time.”

Adrianna Palmer also had a great meet. Gantt said she had two personal best swims that were well-deserved. Palmer finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:39 and also had a fourth place finish in the 100 yard butterfly (1:34.08).

Aurora Shtrauch and Regan Finnegan continued to be consistent, Gantt said. Shtrauch finished third in the 100 yard butterfly while Finnegan took third in the 200 yard individual medley.

Mikayla Sastri picked up a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle by a minute from Chenango Valley. Sastri also led a team of Shtrauch, Oliva Palmer, and Adrianna Palmer to a second place finish in the 400 yard freestyle relay.
