NORWICH – Canasawacta Country Club Owner Tim Carson, who won his flight with partner Scott Seiler Sr., saw more than 250 members and their guests attend the tournament this year – playing, spectating, or just supporting golfers at the award ceremony Saturday night.

Carson, along with Tournament Director David Branham, said they were astonished by a great weekend full of wonderful golfing.

Some memorable moments, according to Carson, started on day one with Paul Brunick and BrIan Loomis. Brunick and Loomis played their last three holes five-under-par with an eagle (3) on the par 5 fifth hole, a par on the par 4 on the sixth, and an albatross score of 2 on the par 5 seventh hole. They finished with a 69 in the first and second rounds, earning them a place in the masters flight. Their final round put them in third place overall after scoring a 66, the lowest on the day.

On day two, Eric Walling and Brett Smith, the overall winners, had a phenomenal day, shooting a 63.Their impressive second round finish led them to their win in the Masters flight, even with shooting a 69 in the final round. Eric is the current Club Champion with back to back titles in 2020 and 2021. His partner Brett Smith is also a very talented young player who has taken most of the year off to give time to his young family but didn’t seem to lose much by not playing. Eric won the 2013 Member-Guest with Corey Johnson.

The final day saw tough course conditions as teeing was moved back and pin positions were set in difficult spots. With these tough conditions, Carson paid gratitude to his Superintendent Chad Kressler and other grounds crew members for their tireless efforts on getting the course in peak condition throughout the weekend. Besides Walling and Smith’s well-deserved win, the course saw impressive performances by Brennan Ryan and Mark Ross, who shot a 68 to win their flight and a 69 by Mike Hayes and Bryan Boyer, who then lost in a playoff hole, but finished second in the Baltusrol flight.

The 64th annual Member-Guest tournament saw impressive scores in the final two rounds from all eight flights. Below are the final official scores tallied in order from lowest to highest.

Congratulations to all golfers and we look forward to seeing you all next year.
