NORWICH– The Norwich Purple Tornado softball team held its 2022 banquet on Wednesday May 25 at the NHS Cafeteria, where the softball booster club handed out this year’s and last year’s awards.

Chloe Glanville received the Most Valuable Player award from the shortened 2021 season while Taylor Finch earned the MVP for 2022. Most Improved went to Rhianna Philbrick.

Finch also was the recipient of the annual Daughter of the Diamond scholarship that she will receive at the end of the year athlete banquet.

While the team itself was named one of Norwich’s spring Scholar Athlete teams, the following athletes received scholar recognition; Emma Brooks, Taylor Finch, Allysson Kampe, Emma Palmer, Rhianna Philbrick, Maddy Quattrocchi, and Caitlin Wetterhahn. These awards are for achieving academic success in the classroom while also actively participating in athletics.
