TRACK AND FIELD: UV/GMU Competes In The 2022 MAC Relays

NEW BERLIN– UV/GMU hosted the 2022 MAC relay on Tuesday, May 3, where the Sidney boys and girls track and field teams won both meets.

The UV/GMU Storm boys earned 43 points with eight points from the 1600 meter relay. The girls scored just 10 points with six points from the sprint medley.

For the boys’ team, UV/GMU's K. Stachura, H. Edwards, J. Prentice, and B. Gorrell earned first place with a time of 3:48 in the 1600 meter relay.

Prentice, R. Taranto, J. Avolio, and Stachura achieved second place in the sprint medley with a time of 4:09.

In the distance medley, UV/GMU came in fourth with a team of B. Wilson, L. Donato, Stachura, and C. Demmon (14:07).

In the long jump, Avolio and Taranto came in fourth place (9') while T. Cattanach and H. Edwards earned second place in the triple jump (67 '7 ¾'').

For the pole vault event, B. Gorrell and J. Prentice came in second place (13' 6'') as T. Murray and B. Wright finished second in shot put (65 '11'').

In the girls’ meet, UV/GMU had a first place finish in both the 1600 meter relay (4:23) and the 400 meter relay (52.94 seconds). The team of J. Schrag, I. Potter, K. Naughton, and G. Gorrell competed in both events.

UV/GMU also earned a first place finish in the long jump as K. Finch and J. Schrag achieved a jump of 30' 9 ¼''.

Schrag, Naughton, and A. Sorochinsky took second place in the shuttle hurdles with a time of 57.6 seconds while G. Gorrell, Potter, Sorochinsky, and Finch earned second in the 800 meter relay (2:00.48).

UV/GMU will be back on the track Friday afternoon in Norwich at 4 p.m.
