Norwich Baseball Suffers Setback at Windsor

WINDSOR- Norwich suffered their first loss of the season against the Windsor Black Knights by a score of 7-3. 

The Purple Tornado struck first in the opening frame as NHS senior Logan Ford drew a walk to score fellow senior Torin Lawrence for the 1-0 lead. Norwich found their mark again as Zack Parker scored in the second inning to take a 2-0 advantage. 

In the bottom of the second inning, Windsor managed to tie things up at two. Black Knights junior Austin Agati connected on a Norwich Trey Bates pitch for a double, scoring two runs.

The Black Knights opened up the game in the fourth, scoring four runs in the bottom half of the frame. Austin Agati drew a walk, scoring one run and senior James Lindsley singled, scoring two more runs for Windsor. 

Norwich's Trey Bates allowed seven hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six.  Mike Hagen threw two and a third innings in relief. 

NHS junior Nick Ragonese went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Purple Tornado. Torin Lawrence, Tristan Phagan, and Logan Ford each recorded a hit.

Norwich (1-1) is back in action on Wednesday April 13th when the Purple Tornado travel to Oneonta High School to take on the Yellowjackets of Oneonta for an early morning start at 11:00.
