Norwich High School Sports Hall Of Fame Announces Honorees

NORWICH – The Norwich High School Sports Hall of Fame, after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, is happy to announce that its annual induction ceremonies will resume on Saturday, May 14.

This year’s ceremonies will combine the ninth induction class, voted upon in 2020, with this year’s 10th contingent.

Honored inductees from 2020 include two athletes – Frank Ault and Jon Cook, one coach – Charlie Miers, and one contributor – Bob Cleveland. Those being honored in 2022 include two more athletes – Joe Binelli and Bill Moulton, one coach – Joe Grzibowski, and one team – the 1974 400-yard freestyle swimming quintet of Bob Bowers, Andy Eaton, Paul Eaton, Rob Echentile and Ken Mirabito.

This year’s event will be held at the Norwich High School gymnasium, with a social hour beginning at 4:30 p.m. A buffet dinner, catered by Curtain Call of Hamilton, will commence at 5:30 p.m., followed by the induction ceremonies at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Tickets to attend are $20 and can be purchased at the Norwich YMCA or the Norwich High School Athletics Department by phoning 607-334-1600, Ext. 1139.

Those wishing to attend just the ceremony may do so free of charge. As in the past, a multi-page program, containing the story of each inductee, as well as pictures of the plaques for all past members, will be available to all those who attend the event.
