NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council’s annual Chenango Student Art Show (CASA) will take place from March 4 to 31. After two years of being either cancelled or significantly altered by the COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibit will once again open with a reception and awards ceremony on Friday, March 4, beginning at 5:30 pm, with delicious treats from The Cottage Bakery, operating out of Creative Works in Norwich.

Open to Chenango County high school students, the show award have First, Second and Honorable Mention places in categories of Drawing, Painting, 3D Sculpture, Photography, and Mixed Media. In addition, a special Best in Show citation will be awarded.

Also presented will be two scholarships for Chenango County seniors intending to pursue a degree in the arts. The Lucy Funke Scholarship awards $500 each to two graduating high school students, and the Chenango Music Scholarship gives $1,000 to one. Both applications require an essay, and interested students can learn more from their guidance counselors.

“There are so many talented young artists throughout Chenango County,” said Executive Director Alecia ONeill. “We’re proud to be able to recognize their hard work and support their future success.”

The exhibit will be displayed in the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries, located at the Chenango Arts Council at 27 West Main Street in Norwich, and the Arts Council’s social media.
