Chenango United Way Exceeds Annual Campaign Goal
Published: January 26th, 2022

NORWICH – The Chenango United Way has just wrapped up its fall 2021 annual fundraising campaign, and is pleased to announce that it has exceeded its goal of $425,00 by raising $448,981 in Chenango County.

“This was another difficult year to ask for donations,” said Elizabeth Monaco, Chenango United Way’s Executive Director. “But we have an amazingly generous community that continues to believe in the work that we do, and continues to support us year after year. We are so incredibly grateful to each and every contributor. And I’m so grateful to Jennifer Telesky at NBT Bank and Megan Carnachan at Blueox for leading this year’s campaign. Our United Way could not have been successful without them and the Chenango community.”

Funds from the campaign will be allocated to Chenango programs addressing the issues of financial stability, education, and health. The Chenango United Way has had over $400,000 in requests from more than 20 local programs.

Awards will be determined in early February 2022 and announced to the community-at-large once all of the programs have had a chance to accept their funding and sign their program agreements with the United Way. Every program awarded funding will report back to the United Way every six months to ensure that the funds are being used in the most effective ways possible.

Chenango United Way dollars will also be used to fund community initiatives like the Chenango Dental Task Force, the ALICE project, the It’s My Bag foster care project, Helping Hands, the 2-1-1 Susquehanna River Region Information and Referral Hotline, and more than 15 Chenango County food pantries and soup kitchens.
