Bainbridge Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Domestic Dispute

BAINBRIDGE – The New York State Police charged a man with attempted murder after he injured another person with a weapon during a domestic dispute this weekend.

On Sunday, December 19, New York State Police closed State Route 7 near Kirby Lane while they searched for Charles J. Richter, 46, after he allegedly injured a victim in Bainbridge.

The victim was reported to have sustained serious injuries, and was transported to Wilson Hospital for treatment. The victim was reported to still be in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Richter was apprehended after a several-hour search by State Troopers.

He has been charged with first degree attempted murder, a Class A-II Felony; first degree assault, a Class B Felony; first degree criminal contempt, a Class E Felony; and first degree unlawful imprisonment, a Class E Felony.
