NORWICH — Nina's Pizzeria will be holding their annual Toys for Tots event at the Colonia Theater on Saturday, December 4.

A dinner of baked ziti and meatballs provided by Nina's will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a screening of Jim Carrey's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will be held in Colonia's Theater One at 2 p.m. Admission to the dinner is $7 and a toy donation, and the movie showing is free.

Additionally, guests can also participate in raffles to win gift baskets of wine and chocolate. Live Event NY will be providing music, the Cottage Bakery is donating desserts, Deja Brew is providing coffee, and the Country Club is giving candy canes for kids to take home.

"We try to include as many local businesses as possible," said Nina's employee Heather McShane, who helps organize the event. "I feel like every year we're able to make it a little bit bigger. You know, trying to do more fun things."

Minty's Candies and Treats is also participating in the event, through donations of chocolate for the gift baskets. They will also be parking their converted school bus in front of the theater to collect the donated toys, and drive them to Saint Bart's Parish Hall to be distributed.

"We have a 40 foot school bus that we converted into a motorhome, and we park that out in front of the Colonia Theater, and people can drop their toys out there or bring them inside," said Norwich Business Improvement District Executive Director Tracey Chawgo. "Then we deliver the toys right in the bus."
