NORWICH — To celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Chenango Valley Home (CVH), residents and board members of CVH recently completed a written history of the establishment.

The Chenango Valley Home serves as a residential and assisted living care facility, located on Canasawacta Street in Norwich.

"We have a licensed adult home, we have senior independent living apartments, and then we also have a social adult daycare," said CVH Director Jennifer Randall.

CVH Board Member and Chenango County Deputy Historian John Antonowicz teamed up with CVH residents Virginia Chaplin, Sylvia Hubbard, and Laura Hart to research the history of the organization and turn it into a comprehensive book.

"The board kind of spearheaded this," said Antonowicz. "They wanted something, and we thought a book would be a nice idea. And they asked if I would help, you know, kind of take the lead on it. And then we asked all the residents and this is the group we got."

Contributions and support was also given by Randall, former CVH Director Vivian Hooks, the Chenango County Historical Society, the Chenango County Historian's Office, Guernsey Memorial Library, and former CVH board members and employees.

The project took about three years to complete, due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic.
