CHENANGO COUNTY — The Chenango SPCA is holding their More Homes for Cats and Kittens Fund adoption special.

Thanks to the generosity of a donor, the Chenango SPCA is able to offer an adoption fee of only $25 for cats and kittens, instead of the usual $100.

"She has asked not to be identified, but it's a donor, and this is what she does is give us money to assist in the adoption process, so that adoptions are much more cost effective," said Chenango SPCA Executive Director Annette Clarke. "She has done very well by us, and it really helps to get animals out the door."

Clarke added that in addition to providing more affordable adoptions, the special also encourages adopters to bring home more than one animal.

Story Continues Below Adverts

"A lot of times people will come in and decide to take two cats instead of one. So they'll take a pair," she said. "It just means that it opens the door for them to adopt a second animal, whereas they might have only adopted one."

The More Homes for Cats and Kittens Fund adoption special will run until the donation runs out. After that, the Chenango SPCA will be holding another adoption special sponsored by the Bissell Foundation.

"We will be having another special coming up in December that is, again, a $25. And this is through the Bissell Foundation," Clarke explained. "It'll be an 'empty the shelters' week, and so we'll have that coming up as well."

The Chenango SPCA would like to thank their generous donor for making this adoption special possible.

"We want to thank the donor who is very generous, and we hope this inspires people to come and adopt," said Clarke. "Our aim is to get them all homes, and that's our hope."
