NORWICH — The One Community, One Book event is set to return this year on Saturday, November 27. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., parents and their children can stop by the Guernsey Memorial Library to hear readings of “The Most Marvelous Muffin,” by local author E. Elizabeth Davey, do crafts, and participate in a scavenger hunt.

The event is put on by Improve Norwich Now (INN), a local organization that focuses on making improvements to the area. In this case, they’re focusing on literacy, something that is very important to INN President and Co-founder Jen Westervelt.

“Before becoming a pastor I was an English teacher,” said Westervelt, who is the pastor of CVFree Church. “So for me personally, literacy is just foundational and has been pretty much all my life. I think if people can read, it can open doors to reaching their full potential, which is the mission of Improve Norwich Now.”

The book will be read at least four times at Guernsey Memorial Library, according to organizer John Stockton. There will also be crafts available for children to do, as well as a scavenger hunt through downtown Norwich.
