CHENANGO COUNTY – Next week on November 2, voters will cast ballots in the general election.

On Page 2 of today's Evening Sun you will find a list of candidates and proposals.

The Chenango County Board of Elections will offer extended hours to accommodate registered voters who wish to apply for an Absentee Ballot to vote in the November 2, 2021 General Election.

Additionally, the countywide in-person Early Voting schedule was also provided. The office, located in the Chenango County Office Building, 5 Court Street, Norwich, is the site for both Absentee and Early Voting.

Countywide Early Voting Hours:

Saturdays and Sundays, October 30, 31 – 9 a.m.– 2 p.m.

Friday, October 29 – 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

A voter may vote absentee due to occupation, education, vacation, is permanently disabled or has an illness (caregivers caring for such voters are also eligible to vote absentee) that prevents them from voting at their local polling site on Election Day, being detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony. Temporary illness, including the risk of contracting COVID-19, remains a valid reason to vote absentee.

The deadline to apply in-person for an Absentee Ballot for the November 2, 2021 General Election is Monday, November 1, 2021.

If the Chenango County Absentee Ballot is not voted on the same day as completing the application, the ballot must be postmarked by General Election Day, November 2, 2021, or dropped off at the Chenango County Board of Elections during normal business hours or during Early Voting, or at a Chenango County Polling Site by the close of polls on Election Day.

The Voter Registration deadline for the November 2, 2021 General Election was Friday, October 8, 2021 for both in-person and postmarked registrations.
