Greene soccer avenges past defeats, reaches Class C soccer final

GREENE - Greene set the record straight on some heart-breaking losses, and advanced to the Section IV Class C finals in the process.

Losers to Trumansburg in the 2018 and 2019 sectional playoffs - both games in overtime - The Trojans avenged those defeats beating the Blue Raiders, 1-0, in overtime on Wednesday afternoon.

Greene will play the winner of Newfield and Lansing on Saturday at Oneonta's Wright National Soccer Campus for the Class C title.

"It was nice to avenge a win over T'burg as they got the upper hand on us in 2019 and 2018," said Greene coach Rick Tallman.

After 80 minutes of scoreless play, and Greene holding the slight advantage in scoring opportunities, the ice was broken in the 88th minute when Terriek Brown scored unassisted with 2:01 left in the first overtime.

"The boys had a full 88 minutes of hard, aggressive play," Tallman said. "They left it all out there. Trumansburg had opportunities themselves, and were a talented and well-coached team."
