Norwich Volleyball Extends Winning Streak To 13

NORWICH - Nearing the end of perhaps its best regular season in team history, Norwich's volleyball team won its 13th straight match powering past Chenango Forks on Thursday, 25-9, 25-15, 25-10.

Lauren Squires had 16 kills and four aces for the Purple Tornado (13-1), recently ranked New York's number one Class B team in the Max Preps poll.

Maddy Morris had a double-double with 14 assists and 10 digs, and Meg Lindridge chipped in four kills and four digs.

Norwich (13-1) travels to Schoharie Friday for a non-league matchup.

Unadilla Valley 3, Sidney 0

SIDNEY - Unadilla Valley showed a short memory.

Coming off a loss to Norwich the night before, the Storm regrouped in dominant fashion rolling past host Sidney on Thursday, 25-12, 25-14, 25-6.

Hudson Lyons had balanced performances for UV (9-2).

Lyons racked up six aces and seven assists, while Conway was consistent in all phases of the game totaling six aces, six assists, and five kills.

DELHI - At Delhi on Thursday night, Oxford won for the ninth time in 10 matches this season beating the Bulldogs in three sets, 25-15, 25-17, 25-20.

Mallory Olsen-Nichols had a team-high 13 assists, Madalyn Barrows put away seven kills, and Ava Benjamin finished with four aces and four kills.

Delhi:  Annaliese Taylor 3 assists; Izzy Tucker 10 digs, 2 aces; Julia Baxter 8 kills, 3 blocks.

SHERBURNE - Canastota bundled all its offense into a 6 1/2-minute span of the third quarter in a shutout win over Sherburne-Earlville on Thursday.

Mia Diveronica scored the first goal for the Raiders at 8:59 of the period. Chloe Curtis and Makenzie Snyder added insurance goals to ensure the road victory.

S-E's Abbie Kochman had a busy night in goal finishing with 37 saves.

SIDNEY - On Sidney's senior recognition, all but one goal and one assist were attributed to the outgoing seniors in a romp over visiting Oxford on Wednesday night.

Bryan Agustin had two goals and one assists for the Warriors, the lone player from either side to score twice.

"Seeing all the goals and assists from seniors (besides Dominick Karwowski) was pretty incredible," said Sidney coach Jake Ryder.

Oxford's John Rovente and Victor Richette scored goals for the Blackhawks.
