OXFORD — The Village of Oxford held a referendum vote on Tuesday, September 28, to approve or deny their fire station capital project. Results of the vote are as follows:

Total votes: 147

Spoiled Ballots: 1

Provisional Ballots: 3

No Votes: 41

Yes Votes: 103

Terms of the fire station capital project are as follows:

Project cost cannot exceed $2.8 million. Project will cost taxpayers, worst case, $75 per $45,000 of assessed home value. The Village of Oxford is also working on grants to reduce overall impact.

Riverbank Erosion has become a serious threat to the existing Fire Station.

Safe Apparatus Bays are top priority of the project.

Proposed project will stabilize riverbank permanently.

Existing Coe Building, which is currently structurally not safe, will be demolished and replaced with new fire bay space.

Project includes replacing existing roof on station and other minor repairs and renovations.
