Greene 3, Vestal 2

GREENE - In a return meeting with Vestal, Greene was pushed to the final minute and half of regulation before scoring the game-winning goal on Saturday.

Sarah Sexton’s second goal of the game for Greene came with 1:28 left in the fourth quarter lifting the Trojans to the one-goal victory.

Sexton’s first goal came off a Liv Kennedy assist at the six-minute mark tying the game at 1-1. Faith Tierno added a second-stanza tally for the Trojans, which gave them the lead until Vestal’s early fourth-period goal.

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Norwich 6, Owego 1

NORWICH - Norwich’s varsity tennis team won for the second straight outing, and improved its record to 5-3 overall taking all but one point from Owego on Friday.

Norwich swept the three doubles matchups, and won three of four singles matches capturing victories at first, third, and fourth singles.

Emma Brooks gathered Norwich’s first team point at the top singles spot defeating Owego’s Rachel Wood in a tight contest, 7-5, 6-4. Jolie Powell won in straight sets at third singles, and fourth singles player, Chloe Glanville, received a forfeit.

All three of Norwich’s doubles victories came by way of forfeit.

OXFORD - Oxford’s top-three scorers proved the difference in an eight-shot win over visiting Greene, Friday at Bluestone Golf Course.

With number one man Christian Paden out of the lineup, Oxford’s balanced lineup made up for that absence.

Ethan Fleury medaled for Oxford shooting a 45, Bennett Paden was one back at 46, and Ethan Hodge broke into the top three for the Blackhawks (4-1) shooting a 49.

Greene’s score line was separated by only three shots from top to bottom. Leading the way for Greene (4-3) was Parker Flanagan. Flanagan finished with a 49.

EDMESTON - A strong scoring trio set UV/G-MU/Morris apart from Bainbridge-Guilford in Friday’s home victory at Red Pines Golf Club.

Owen Hill medaled for the first time shooting a 42 over the par-36 layout to lead UV/G-MU/Morris.

Scott Murphy finished a stroke behind Hill at 43, and Devon Hartwell carded a 47 for the winners.

Jack Winn’s 51 led the Bobcats.
