Field Hockey Roundup: Greene 2, Moravia 1 (OT)

GREENE - Greene’s field hockey team remained unbeaten on the young season outlasting Moravia in double overtime on Saturday.

Despite again dominating statistically, the Trojans (3-0) were forced to extra minutes when Moravia’s Bella Banajee knotted the game with 2:46 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Greene clinched the victory when Emma Rice converted a Payton Yahner feed with 5:53 remaining in the second OT.

Olivia Kennedy scored for Greene in the first quarter, and that lead held up for nearly 50 minutes until Moravia’s tying goal.

SHERBURNE-EARLVILLE TOURNAMENT

SHERBURNE - Sherburne-Earlville’s field hockey team dropped two tight games in its home tournament Friday and Saturday.

Friday night, visiting Herkimer sent the Marauders into the consolation game prevailing 2-1. Chesnee Miller had the lone S-E goal with Grace Todd Rogers picking up the assist.

Herkimer’s Lindsey Carpenter and Emily Harringshaw picked up goals in the victory.

In Saturday afternoon’s consolation game, Sauquoit Valley unlocked a scoreless game tallying the sudden-victory goal in the second overtime to grab the 1-0 victory.

Isabella Cannarelli scored the winner for Sauquoit with 36 seconds remaining.

S-E’s Abby Kochman and Alexis James were named to the all-tournament team, and James was named the tournament’s defensive MVP.
