SHERBURNE - Sherburne-Earlville salvaged a third-place finish in its kickoff tournament blanking Oxford in the consolation game Saturday afternoon.

Dan Scholl scored the game’s lone goal five minutes into the second half. Andrew Fern’s pass split two Oxford defenses, and Scholl picked up the ball to beat the last Blackhawks defender in a one-on-one situation.

Zach Trass made two saves for S-E to earn the shutout.

Oxford’s Ethan Fleury and Kayden Renfrow were named to the all-tournament team, while the Marauders’ Scholl and Ryan Solloway also garnered all-tourney accolades.

In the first round of the Sherburne-Earlville Tournament, Central Valley Academy put up big offense in the first half scoring four goals en route to a shutout win over the host Marauders on Friday.

Maxwell Hall had a hat trick for CVA in the victory.

Trass finished with seven saves for the Marauders.
