NORWICH –The Christian Neighborhood Center of Norwich, Inc., dba The Place will be signing a contract with the Chenango County Department of Social Services to once again run the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), a program of New York State’s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA).

The Place will receive funding to make this program possible for at least 60 Chenango County youth.

SYEP is slated to run July 9th through August 6th, providing youth ages 14 to 20 years of age, from TANF eligible households with valuable work experience and a much-needed paycheck.

Youth will work part-time, five days a week and will not only have the opportunity to gain work experience, but they will also be provided with training opportunities including resume writing, professionalism in the workplace, interviewing tips, and financial literacy.
