Greene bounces back with shutout win

WELLS BRIDGE - Greene rebounded from its second loss of the season shutting out Unatego on Monday afternoon.

Olivia Kennedy pitched a four-hit shutout for Greene to improve her season record to 9-2. She struck out 11, and helped her own cause at the plate with four hits, two runs, and two RBI.

Payton Yahner doubled twice in a 3-for-5 day for Greene scoring three runs. Dayani Lora went 2-for-2, and also scored two runs in the victory.

BASEBALL

Harpursville 9, Unadilla Valley-GMU 1

NEW BERLIN - Harpursville starting pitcher Colton Sakowsky pitched six strong innings leading the Hornets to a road victory at Unadilla Valley-GMU on Monday.

Sakowsky tossed six shutout innings allowing just one UV-GMU hit, and striking out six.

The Hornets' number three hitter, Justin Fleming, doubled twice and drove in a team-high three runs.

Fleming had an RBI double in the fifth, and added a two-run double in the sixth that lifted his team to an 8-0 lead.

Timmy Postma had UV-GMU's lone RBI driving in Brandon Kneale in the seventh inning.

GOLF

Clinton 172, Sherburne-Earlville 175

SHERBURNE - Sherburne-Earlville's golf team dropped its sixth match in eight outings this season falling by just three strokes to Clinton on Monday.

The Marauders' Andrew Fern did claim overall match medalist honors with his best home score of the season.

Fern fired an even-par 35 over the par-35 layout at Mountain Top Golf Course. He was followed by Brogan Winton's 45.

Keegan Kane and Maleah Britton turned 47 and 48 respectively to complete the Marauders' scoring.

On May 27, S-E dropped a 187-204 final to Mount Markham at Cedar Lake Golf Course

Fern, again, led the Marauders shooting a 43.

Devin Evans' 41 paced Mount Markham, which picked up its first win of the season.

OXFORD - The Paden brothers set the pace for Oxford's golf team in a home victory over an incomplete Sidney roster on Monday.

Older brother Christian Paden led the Blackhawks shooting a 46 over Bluestone Golf Course's par-34 front nine. Bennett Paden was one stroke back at 45, and Ethan Fleury rounded out the Blackhawks' top three carding a 53.
