Kennedy throws fourth no-hitter of season in Greene shutout win

AFTON -  Greene’s Olivia Kennedy threw her fourth no-hitter of the season in an 8-0 shutout victory over Afton on Thursday.

Kennedy struck out 15 Afton batters, and the Trojans’ offense banged out 11 hits.

Alex Brown went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, and McKenzie Scott also went 2-for-3, while scoring a pair of runs.

BASEBALL

Greene 20, Afton 0 (6 innings)

AFTON  - Greene benefited from 21 base on balls issued by Afton’s pitching staff, and cruised to a six-inning victory on Thursday.

Winning pitcher Kolby Finch struck out 11, and allowed just one hit. Finch helped his own cause finishing 2-for-3 with five RBI.

Leadoff hitter, Parker Flanagan, went 3-for-3 with three RBI, and Dallas Roe finished with two RBI.

TRACK AND FIELD

Greene’s track and field captured a close win

DEPOSIT - Greene’s boys’ track and field team captured a close win over Deposit-Hancock using its superior depth in a 47-42 victory.

Derek Renfer (400 meters), Riley Seeley (400-meter hurdles), and Jonah Browning (200 meters) had individual victories for the Trojans; however, it was the nine second-place finishes that put Greene over the top.

On the girls’ side, Deposit-Hancock’s girls won every event in a 46-42 victory.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Bainbridge-Guilford 3, Greene 2

BAINBRIDGE  - Bainbridge-Guilford (3-4) handed Greene its second loss of the season earning a one-point victory over Greene (4-2) on Thursday.

Porter Easton and Brock Porter won at second and third singles for the Bobcats, and the second doubles duo of Trent Sullivan and Kevin Lang added B-G’s third team point.

Maeric Barrows claimed a three-set win for Greene at first singles edging Garrett O’Hara, and Alex Boel along with Riley Howerter won at first doubles for the Trojans.

GOLF

Cooperstown  184, Sherburne-Earlville 207

COOPERSTOWN - Cooperstown capitalized on the home course advantage at Leatherstocking Golf Course picking up a 23-shot victory over visiting Sherburne-Earlville on Thursday.

Spencer Lewis topped Cooperstown’s lineup  - and earned medalist honors - shooting a 40.

Andrew Fern led the Marauders’ foursome shooting a six-over-par 42, and Keegan Kane added a 49.
