Woman admits to murdering Sherburne boyfriend in cold blood Kelly Gillett at the time of her arrest in Oct. 2020.

NORWICH – Appearing in court Monday afternoon, Kelly J. Gillett, 36, of Johnson City, accepted a plea deal and admitted to murdering her boyfriend as he slept.

During the proceeding Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir Jr. listened to Gillett describe what happened on October 19, 2020, in the Village of Sherburne when she shot John Ryan, 39, with a shotgun.

District Attorney Michael Ferrarese said Gillett agreed to plead guilty to the top count of the grand jury indictment, second degree murder, in exchange for an 18-years to life prison sentence.

She was remanded without bail to the county jail pending sentencing.
